Greenfield Resources Backstory

Greenfield Resources was founded in 1979 as a sole trading company excavating swimming pools and reshaping suburban backyards.

By 1994 the business had transformed into commercial civil contacting company guided by Mark and Len Johnston, completing large Sydney CBD projects such as Jacksons Landing, Lend Lease Headquarters, Grace Bros Underpinning and the Citigroup Building on George Street to mention a few.

The company has completed Landmark projects like the Sole Skyscraper on the Gold Coast and the Tullamarine airport project for John Holland and Macquarie Bank, that saw a number of companies come together and collaborate in a project that widened the runway in one month for the new A380.

Greenfield went through a transition period in 2012 embarking on a different style of work base in remediation and recycling, we are doing this by taking all the skills learned over the past 39 years and putting them to good use in an important industry.

Since then we have completed a vast number of projects including:

  • Citi Group building basement excavation George Street, Sydney
  • Grace Brothers Under pin George Street, Sydney. Excavation of basement in existing building whilst Grace Brothers store continued to trade.
  • Tullamarine runway widening project for the A380 Melbourne. 22,000 cubic meters of excavation and concrete placement hand finished and completed in twenty days.
  • Site decontamination for a new curbside recycling facility for Visy Australia at Alexandria. 3,500 tonnes of contaminated waste was excavated and recycled offsite.
  • Jacksons Landing bentonite cut off wall and basement excavation that was only twelve meters from the harbour line and nine meters below high tide,
  • Rialto Manly, De-watering and basement excavation this site was 16 meters below high tide and 300m from the shoreline all excavated in sand.
  • Soul Tower Surfers Paradise, Ground Anchoring.
  • Iron Cove Power Station Cyanide decontamination project.
  • Pig firing unit Tallawarra Power Station.
  • M7 Batter Slip and slope stabilisation.
